Recent reports suggested Xbox vulnerability may enable hackers to wield a tool for permanent user account bans. YouTubers alarmed, but Microsoft denies exploit.
According to Xbox GM of trust and safety, Kim Kunes, third-party apps or tools have no effect on player enforcements. Additionally, numerous inaccurate reports do not lead to any enforcement actions.
Kunes emphasized that only reports assessed by the Xbox Safety Team as accurate and violating Community Standards lead to enforcement actions like suspension or account bans.
What’s the issue
Last week, several YouTubers alleged the existence of an Xbox exploit allowing the use of a third-party tool to ban accounts. Typically, suspensions on Xbox prompt notifications with reasons, but in this case, gamers face unclear two-day suspensions.
According to a YouTuber’s video, the tool grants potential hackers various capabilities, such as controlling parties, modifying pictures, banning accounts, and bulk-inviting users from previous parties. These actions may lead to gamers losing their digital purchases.
Updated Xbox User Interface (UI)
Xbox has initiated the rollout of a fresh Home interface across all Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. According to the company, the update is a result of player feedback and aims to enhance game discovery, rekindle love for familiar games, foster community connections, and offer a more personalized experience.
Microsoft stated that the redesign will facilitate swift navigation to the games Library, Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, Search, and Settings, conveniently located at the top of the Home screen. The update also introduces a simplified layout to create additional space for the personalized background.
