Many people have observed a recent surge in advertisements in their Gmail inbox. According to a report by 9to5Google, Google has significantly increased its Gmail ads campaign in the last few days, resulting in more ads appearing on the desktop and mobile versions of the email service. Additionally, ads are now being displayed in areas of the app that were previously free of advertisements. Fortunately, there is a solution to remove these unwanted ads.
What are the steps to remove Gmail ads?
In case you are tired of constantly encountering ads in your inbox, below are the actions you can follow to eliminate them. It is important to note that this process will result in the removal of your categories (such as Social, Updates, Promotions tabs, etc.). However, this is a relatively minor inconvenience:
By following these steps, you will disable the tabs in your inbox, which may have been useful in distinguishing between spam and important messages. Currently, Google only displays ads when these categories are active, so by disabling them, you will also turn off the ads.
In my case, I prefer to immediately hide all categories as soon as I set up a new Gmail account, so I have never encountered any ads within or around my inbox. However, I anticipate that it is only a matter of time before Google finds a way to include ads in the primary inbox as well. Nevertheless, I intend to enjoy my ad-free inbox for as long as possible.
