On September 12, Apple’s ‘Wonderlust’ event is poised to unveil six or more new products. The event will also disclose release dates for iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17, previously introduced at WWDC23. This hardware-centric event spotlights iPhones, as tradition dictates. Here’s a preview of what Apple will unveil.
Apple Event 2023: Four new iPhones
Prepare for the arrival of four fresh iPhones. Following the pattern of recent years, specifically 2020, Apple is expected to unveil four variants: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. While there have been rumors about the 2023 flagship being named iPhone 15 Ultra, recent reports suggest that Apple might retain the iPhone 15 Pro Max moniker. The standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will serve as the base models, featuring aluminum frames and glass backs.
The premium iPhone 15 models will incorporate Titanium frames. The significant screen and camera upgrades from the previous year, including Dynamic Island and a 48MP camera, are anticipated to extend to the standard iPhone 15 series this year. Apple is also expected to maintain its distinct processor strategy, with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus utilizing the A16 Bionic processor, while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature the latest-generation A17 processor. Additionally, all four iPhone 15 models are rumored to make the transition from Lightning to USB-C connectivity. As for iPhone 15 colors, we can expect Black, White, Yellow, and Blue options, with some reports suggesting the possibility of an Orange/Coral Pink variant.
Apple Event 2023: Two new Apple Watch models
Apple is expected to update two Apple Watch series with the launch of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. Apple Watch Series 9 will be available in the current 41-millimeter and 45-millimeter sizes. Apple is expected to stick to 49 mm size for its Apple Watch Ultra 2. All of the new Apple Watches models are expected to look like the last year’s models. This means that the standard watches will have the same basic design as the Series 4 introduced in 2018, while the Ultra keeps last year’s look. But yes, Apple may introduce new materials and colors. The big focus for the Apple Watch this year is speculated to be performance with the watches reported to get their first new chip since the Series 6. Apple is unlikely to launch a successor to Apple Watch SE 2 launched in 2022.
Apple Event 2023: AirPods Pro
Another product line that is likely to get an update is AirPods Pro. Apple may launch AirPods Pro with USB type C charging support. The earbuds are unlikely to get any other major new hardware features, but a software update may bring improved automatic device switching and the ability to mute and unmute from the AirPods themselves. There may also be a new feature called Conversation Awareness that automatically silences media being played when people begin speaking to the wearer. The company also reportedly plans to bring USB-C charging to its low-end AirPods and AirPods Max as early as next year.
