What is Duolingo Exactly.
Duolingo is a popular language learning app and website that offers courses in a variety of languages. The app was created in 2011 by Luis von Ahn and Severin Hacker, and has since become one of the most popular language learning tools in the world.
Duolingo uses a gamified approach to language learning, with lessons presented as a series of exercises that are designed to be fun and engaging. The app is free to use, although there is a paid version called Duolingo Plus that offers additional features.
When you first start using Duolingo, you’ll be asked to select the language you want to learn and your current level of proficiency. The app will then guide you through a series of lessons that cover vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills. Each lesson is broken down into bite-sized chunks, and you can earn points and progress through levels as you complete them.
Duolingo also includes a number of features to help you stay motivated and track your progress. You can set daily goals, earn badges for completing certain tasks, and compete with friends to see who can learn the most in a set period of time.
Overall, Duolingo is a fun and effective tool for learning a new language, and its popularity has made it a go-to resource for language learners around the world.
What is Rosetta Stone ?
Rosetta Stone is a language learning software company that offers courses in a variety of languages. The company was founded in 1992, and its courses are based on the principles of immersion and natural language learning.
Rosetta Stone’s courses are designed to teach language skills in the same way that a child learns their first language. The courses are presented entirely in the target language, with no translations or explanations in your native language. This is intended to help you develop natural fluency and to eliminate the need to translate in your head.
The courses consist of a series of lessons that cover vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversation skills. Each lesson is presented as a series of interactive exercises, including speaking and listening exercises, and is designed to be engaging and fun.
One of the key features of Rosetta Stone is its speech recognition technology, which allows you to practice your pronunciation and receive immediate feedback on your accent and intonation. This is intended to help you develop a more natural-sounding accent and to build your confidence in speaking the language.
Overall, Rosetta Stone is a comprehensive language learning tool that is based on a proven methodology and is designed to help you develop natural language skills. While it can be a bit more expensive than some other language learning tools, it is a popular choice for serious language learners who are looking for a comprehensive and immersive approach to language learning.
How is Babbel different from DuoLingo?
Babbel and Duolingo are both popular language learning apps, but there are some key differences between the two. Here are some ways in which Babbel is different from Duolingo:
- Course structure: Babbel’s courses are structured around real-life situations and conversations, while Duolingo’s courses are more focused on vocabulary and grammar. Babbel’s approach is intended to help you develop the skills you need to have real conversations in the language you’re learning.
- Paid content: While Duolingo is free to use, Babbel requires a subscription to access all of its content. This means that Babbel’s courses are more comprehensive and in-depth than Duolingo’s free content.
- Emphasis on speaking: Babbel places a strong emphasis on speaking and pronunciation, and includes a speech recognition feature that allows you to practice your pronunciation and get immediate feedback. Duolingo also includes speaking exercises, but they are less frequent and less focused on pronunciation.
- Language options: Babbel offers courses in 14 languages, while Duolingo offers courses in over 40 languages. However, Babbel’s courses tend to be more comprehensive and in-depth than Duolingo’s courses for the languages that they share.
- Gamification: Duolingo’s courses are presented in a game-like format, with points, levels, and achievements to motivate learners. Babbel also includes gamification elements, but they are less prominent and are intended to complement the more serious focus on language learning.
Overall, Babbel and Duolingo are both effective language learning tools, but they have different strengths and approaches. Babbel’s focus on real-life conversations and pronunciation makes it a good choice for learners who want to develop their speaking skills, while Duolingo’s gamified approach and broad language selection make it a popular choice for casual learners.
Which is cost effective more Babbel or Duo Lingo ?
Duolingo is free to use, while Babbel requires a subscription to access all of its content. Babbel’s subscription costs vary depending on the length of the subscription and the language you’re learning, but as of February 2023, the cost is roughly $13-15 USD per month for a monthly subscription, with discounts for longer-term subscriptions.
While Duolingo is a great option for language learners on a tight budget, Babbel’s subscription cost is generally considered to be very reasonable, especially considering the amount and quality of content that is available. Babbel also offers a free trial for new users, which allows you to test out the platform and see if it’s a good fit for your language learning needs.
Ultimately, the choice between Babbel and Duolingo may come down to your personal preferences and goals. If you’re looking for a comprehensive language learning tool with a strong focus on speaking and real-life conversations, Babbel may be a good option for you, despite the cost. If you’re looking for a more casual language learning tool that is free and offers a gamified approach, Duolingo may be a better fit.

Most Helpful Reviews for Duolingo
Home for Learning New Languages in a Fun, Casual Way
Duolingo knows how to keep learners motivated. Daily challenges, leaderboards, progress reports, reminders, the app’s relaxing theme – everything suits my passive learning style. As the lessons are short in length, I usually get into a lesson without dedicating a long session for it. It has been a great experience so far.
PROS
A wide range of language courses is available to enroll. One of the most attractive things about Duolingo is the way the entire learning process is set up – Gamified, relaxing bite-sized lessons to dive into anytime, even on the go. Progress tracking, looking back into previously learned contents, leaderboards, community to discuss with other learners/experts – everything is well organized and easily accessible. One great part is, anyone can dive in to learn any language without spending money while staying opted out of any advertisements.
CONS
While Duolingo gives a way of learning in a fun casual way in a gamified environment, someone who has a higher priority of learning a language over other activities might find Duolingo’s pace rather slow. Sometimes the lessons do feel kind of repetitive. Not everyone learns at the same pace, and I think this balancing still has an opportunity for improvement. The mobile app still lacks various features available in the web app.
Learn languages without intensive courses.
Great! No app will ever be on its level
PROS
what I have always appreciated about Duolingo is the possibility of learning languages or improving the practicality of others through games, tests and challenges. It seems strange, but the “for fun” approach manages to teach many more things than boring severe and difficult courses. It starts from the basic knowledge to implement them more and more, without ever forgetting the previous ones. Furthermore, the function that I appreciate the most is being able to practice multilingual at the same time.
CONS
I would like Duolingo to add the function of having a conversation with a robot, in voice form, or a chat conversation, to simulate a real chat with another person and make the daily practice of the language even more realistic
My Experience with Duolingo
A great language learning app that I would recommend for those who are interested in learning a new language.
PROS
Fun and easy to use. This app makes learning a new language easy overall. Gamification is an essential part of what makes this software so good.
CONS
I don’t like the fact that learning on this app cannot really take place offline Also the amount of ads that you encounter after completing just 1 segment is just too much.
REASONS FOR SWITCHING TO DUOLINGO
Free and easy to use. I like the layout more.
